‘Roses are red, violets are blue…’ White House criticised for ‘disgusting’ Instagram post

US

The White House Instagram account has caused a stir after posting a Valentine’s message – targeting illegal immigrants.

On a day set aside for love and romance, the post came with the less-than-pleasant message: “Rose are red, violets are blue, come here illegally and we will deport you.”

It featured the faces of President Donald Trump and his border czar Tom Homan on a pink background.

However, it did not go down particularly well with many people on the social platform.

“Whoever runs this page needs to be fired,” one person wrote.

“So unprofessional and disgusting,” another posted.

“I’m so disgusted and disappointed. How could anyone think this is okay? The White House!? What a country.”
