Sarah Everard’s killer Wayne Couzens has pleaded not guilty to four charges of indecent exposure.

The 49-year-old former police officer is accused of the flashing in January and February last year in Swanley, Kent.

The last of the alleged incidents is said to have happened four days before he kidnapped Ms Everard.

Couzens, wearing a grey sweatshirt and with a white beard, appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Frankland prison in Durham.

It’s alleged he “intentionally exposed his genitals intending that someone would see them and be caused alarm and distress”.

He spoke to confirm his identity and denied the charges.

A trial date has not yet been set but further hearings are due at the Old Bailey over three days from 1 November.

The case was sent to the famous central London court after Couzens opted for a crown court trial rather than a magistrates’ court.

Sarah Everard, 33, was killed in March 2021 after Couzens stopped and handcuffed her in south London on the pretence she had broken lockdown rules.

Her burned body was later found in a builder’s bag near a patch of land he owned in a Kent wood.

In a separate case, Couzens is also appealing against the whole-life sentence that means he will die in jail.
